Crowns
Do you
have a tooth that is damaged enough to require a huge filling to repair? Do
you have a broken tooth? Do you have a tooth that is weak or cracked?
Do you have a bad shaped or discolored tooth?
If you do, a dental crown may be the answer to restoring your dental health or appearance.
A crown is a full tooth covering designed to fit over a damaged tooth and restore its size, shape and function. It is designed, shaped and colored to match your existing teeth and restore your smile to full health and function.
The production of a crown is a two-step process. During your first visit we will prepare the tooth for the crown by removing the broken or damaged part of the tooth and reducing the size in order to receive the crown. We then take an impression of the prepared tooth and the surrounding teeth from which to make the new crown.
Finally, before you leave, we place a temporary crown, made of a base metal, to cover the prepared tooth so you can function normally while we have our dental lab create your new crown.
Shortly after your first appointment your new crown will be ready and you will come back to our office for us to place or “seat” your new crown and bond it into place. Minor adjustments will be made to make sure your new tooth fits properly when you chew and bite.
The design and creation of your crown is as much an art as it is a science to make sure your teeth look natural. At Harrison Dental crowns are a valuable restoration tool to help you regain the health, function, beauty and "power of your smile".
